The Hitavada State Bureau Raipur/Bilaspur,

In a sweeping operation conducted the other day, Bilaspur Police have intensified their ruthless crackdown on cattle smuggling, confiscating vehicles packed with cattle and seizing firearms from the smugglers. This coordinated campaign has sent a clear message to those involved in the illegal trade: Bilaspur will show no mercy. Teams from multiple police stations, including Hirri, Takhatpur, and Bilha, intercepted several vehicles transporting cattle in horrific conditions. Additionally, in the case handled by Hirri Police, the smugglers were also found in possession of one pistol, five country-made firearms, and ten bullets. The offenders now face severe criminal charges under various sections of law.

The operations were carried out under the firm directives of Bilaspur Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajnesh Singh, whose zero-tolerance policy against such cruelty ensured swift action. The offenders are now facing the full might of law as they have been prosecuted under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), the Chhattisgarh Agricultural Cattle Preservation Act, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. In one of the most shocking cases, Hirri Police, act ing on Case No. 92/2024, intercepted a truck (CG-28-N 1840) carrying 20 cattle bound tightly with ropes and denied food and water. Along with the truck, officers confiscated one pistol, five country-made firearms, and ten bullets from the smugglers, underscoring the dangerous nature of the operation. Similarly, Takhatpur Police confiscated a pickup (CG-10-BJ 9265) with 20 cattle, while Bilha Police intercepted an Isuzu truck (TS-07-UN 4166) carrying 13 cattle. Reports from the police highlighted the extreme cruelty inflicted on the animals, who were transported in overcrowded, appalling conditions without food or water.

SP Rajnesh Singh, maintaining his strict stance, emphasized, “This crackdown is just the beginning. We will dismantle this illegal trade and ensure that offenders are brought to justice.” Following the confiscation of vehicles and weapons, Bilaspur District Magistrate Awanish Kumar Sharan acted swiftly, ordering the legal confiscation of the vehicles involved. These included Kapil Kumar’s truck (CG-28-N 1840), Suresh Kumar Sahu’s pickup (CG-10-BJ 9265), and an Isuzu truck (TS-07-UN 4166) driven by Manjula Boieni from Telangana. This operation has not only disrupted the illegal transport of cattle but also led to the confiscation of dangerous weapons, further reinforcing the commitment of Bilaspur Police to dismantle this criminal network. The Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), Chhattisgarh Agricultural Cattle Preservation Act, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act will be enforced with no leniency, sending a strong signal to the criminal elements involved.
