HC ssues notices to Health Deptt, Mpl Commr of Bhopal, Jabalpur

A PIL has been filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court alleging that dengue is spreading rapidly in the State due to the negligence of urban bodies. After the preliminary hearing on the matter, the division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Vinay Saraf has issued notice to the Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bhopal and Jabalpur and sought a reply within 10 days. The next hearing on the matter will be held on September 19.

Advocate Aditya Sanghi presented the case on behalf of Jabalpur resident Vijay Bajaj. He alleged that dengue is spreading throughout the State and the number of patients in hospitals is increasing every day. Giving an example, he said that on September 10, the Government and private medical hospitals in Jabalpur were full. This time deaths are increasing due to the strong variant of dengue virus. It was argued that necessary steps are not being taken by the Municipal Corporations and other urban bodies. Fogging machines are not being used properly anywhere in the State. If fogging machines are used with proper insecticides and cleanliness is maintained, then the dengue virus can be controlled to a great extent. The people are suffering and dying of dengue due to corruption in Nagar Nigam of MP.
