An investigation into the Audi car accident case by police has revealed that the CCTV footage from the La Horee Bar in Dharampeth is missing. As a result, the police have seized the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and sent it for forensic analysis. It has come to the light that Sanket Bawankule, son of Chandrashekhar Bawankule, State President of Bharatiya Janata Party, and his friends were enjoying liquor at the bar on Sunday night. The missing CCTV footage from that time is the most important part of the investigation. Sitabuldi Police have confiscated the DVR for examination on Wednesday, as no CCTV footage of the particular day was available. On Sunday, Arjun Hawre (27), a resident of Khamla; Sanket Bawankule, and Ronit Ajay Chittamwar (27), a resident of Manish Nagar; visited the Bar in Dharampeth, where they consumed alcohol and snacks.

Later, at Ramdaspeth, Arjun, who was driving the Audi car, crashed it into four other vehicles, including another car, a moped, and a vehicle (MH-31-EK/3939) belonging to Jitendra Shivaji Sonkamble (45), of Dhantoli. Two moped riders were also injured in the crash. The police registered a case of serious accident and arrested Arjun, who has since been released on bail. On Tuesday night, a Sitabuldi police team visited La Horee Bar to request the CCTV footage and the bill for the drinks. The Manager initially refused to provide either.

After threatening legal action, the police reviewed the footage and found no recordings since Sunday night. As a result, they confiscated the DVR. Additionally, the police seized the bill from the bar. As per the bill details, Sanket and his friends had purchased wine and snacks for Rs 3,120. Police suspect that the bill may have listed wine instead of alcohol.

Police yet to get RTO inspection report

Following the incident, two RTO officers have been inspecting the Audi and the accident scene for the past three days. They also conducted an inspection on Wednesday to verify the Audi’s documents, assess the damage, and investigate why the airbag of the car did not function after the crash involving multiple vehicles. The final report of the investigation has not yet been received by the police.
