Day programme
EMPHASISING the importance off creating safe environment, Dr Hina Khan, Head
of the Post Graduate Teaching
Department, Rashtrasant
Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur
University(RTMNU)said,“The
education and community
support is very important in
preventing suicide. Similarly,
creating a safe and supportive
environment for individuals
struggling with mental health
challengesisneedofthehour.”
TheDepartmenthadorganised a programme to mark
Suicide Prevention Day with a
seriesofactivitiesaimedatraising awareness and promoting
mental health. The event saw
enthusiasticparticipationfrom
students,whoshowcasedtheir
creative posters and shared
insightful thoughts on the
importance of suicideprevention.
Their contributions highlighted the urgent need for collective efforts to address mental health issues in society.
The programme was
anchored by MA SEM1students,Jeeya and Pranaya, who
guided the event, ensuring its
smoothflow andengagement.
As a part of the ceremony, the
participantsalsotookasolemn
oath to actively contribute to
suicide prevention and mental health advocacy in their
communities.

Bansod, Seema Pagay, Anjan
Maheshwari, and Renuka
Dhole also shared their
views during the event.
They
spoke about the critical
need for awareness and early
intervention to prevent
suicide, stressing the importance of empathy, communication, and accessible mental
health resources.
The Department’s initiative
received positive responses,
withattendeesacknowledging
the vital role of educational
institutions in mental health
advocacy. The event concluded with a call to action for students and faculty alike to continue efforts in spreading
awareness and supporting
those in need.
