Eid-e-Milad HOLIDAY on Monday
r THE holiday announced by the State Government for Eid-e-Milad will be observed on Monday in Nagpur district. During a meeting held on Saturday with representatives from Muslim community organisations at the collectorate, Collector Dr Vipin Itankar made this decision.
State Government offices are scheduled to observe 24 public holidays in 2024, including Eid-e-Milad. Since Eid-e-Milad falls on September 16 and Anant Chaturdashi on September 17, there were concerns about security issues. To maintain law and order, it was decided that Muslims in Mumbai city, Mumbai suburbs, and some other districts would hold their procession on September 18 instead of September 16. As a result, the Eid-e-Milad holiday on September 16 has been moved to September 18 for Mumbai and its suburbs. Deepak More, Deputy Secretary to the Government, issued a letter regarding the change on September 13.
District Collectors in other districts of the State were given the authority to adjust holidays as needed. In this context, Dr Itankar held a meeting at the collectorate on Saturday, which was attended by Police Commissioner Dr Ravinder Singal and SP Dr Harssh Poddar, and declared holiday on Monday
