The Jabalpur Municipal Corporation has placed special emphasis on monitoring ‘Bhandara’ in the city. It will take strict action against activities such as littering, obstructing traffic, using plastic and taking illegal power connection. The civic body would impose heavy penalty on such illegal acts. It may be noted that Ganeshotsav is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in Sanskardhani and a large number of Bhandaras are organized near Ganesh pandals. Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav has instructed officials to prevent and take action against the littering caused during these public feasts.

Accordingly, a Bhandara was organised on Sunday night at the Rampur Chowk Ganesh pandal, where the committee was found to have spread litter by using disposable plates that were scattered across the road. Following the same, the JMC initiated legal proceedings against the committee President and sent the case to the court. Municipal Commissioner has urged all devotees to avoid using plastic for distributing offerings during the feasts, not to obstruct traffic and to ensure that no litter is spread on the streets.
