On the occasion of World Bamboo Day, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated the world’s tallest bamboo tower in Bemetara virtually. Assembly Speaker, Dr. Raman Singh, also participated in the event virtually. The bamboo tower, constructed by Bhavya Srishti Udyog in Kathia village, Bemetara district, stands at an impressive 140 feet and weighs 7,400 kilograms. Built at a cost of approximately Rs 11 lakh, the tower’s design is inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Ganesh Verma, founder of Bhavya Srishti Udyog and a pioneer in bamboo technology, spearheaded the project. In his address, Gadkari highlighted the innovative efforts of Bhavya Srishti Udyog in advancing bamboo technology and praised the 140-foot structure, which is both lightweight and durable with a lifespan of at least 25 years. He noted that the tower can serve as a watchtower, telecom tower, transmission tower, or radio tower. The Minister commended Bhavya Srishti Udyog’s ongoing research and development of new bamboo-based designs, pledging continued support for their initiatives.

Gadkari emphasized that if the Chhattisgarh government implements a policy to promote bamboo use, it could transform the lives of local tribal communities. He suggested that new designs for handlooms, handicrafts, and metal-crafts could enhance their marketability. He urged Dr. Raman Singh and the Chhattisgarh government to establish design centers to create utility-based furniture and other bamboo products, which could potentially be exported. Dr Raman Singh, while addressing the event virtually, expressed pride in the achievement, stating that the tower has elevated the prestige of Chhattisgarh. He congratulated the team at Bhavya Srishti Udyog and hailed the project as an innovative start-up rooted in the local community, benefiting farmers and forest dwellers alike. The event was also attended by MP Vijay Baghel and MLAs Dipesh Sahu and Ishwar Sahu. Ganesh Verma, founder of Bhavya Srishti Udyog, shared that his company’s products are recognized by institutions such as the National Automotive Test Tracks, Central Building Research Institute, Indian Railways, and Indian Road Congress. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, in its efforts to promote eco-friendly solutions, is set to launch trial projects to install bamboo crash barriers along hundreds of kilometers in 25 states, to be implemented in the coming months. This initiative has the potential to significantly benefit farmers, the rural economy, and the environment.
