Raigarh’s Prashansa Agarwal has realised her childhood dream of becoming a pilot, bringing immense pride to her family and the city. At just 21, she has made history as Raigarh’s first female pilot and the only woman selected among 24 candidates for pilot training with Indigo Airlines. Her journey from Raigarh to New Zealand and Abu Dhabi serves as an inspiring testament to her unwavering dedication, perseverance, and the relentless support of her family. Born on 25th July 2002, Prashansa was raised in a family of accomplished medical professionals, her mother Dr Jyotsna Agarwal, and her father, Dr Pawan Agarwal. Despite coming from a background in medicine, Prashansa was captivated by the sight of aeroplanes from a young age. Her dream to become a pilot took root in childhood and grew stronger with each passing year. She began her education at Guardian and Guide School and later attended Carmel School until Class 10. She then completed her higher secondary education at OP Jindal School.

Throughout her academic journey, Prashansa maintained a laser-sharp focus on her goal, much like the mythological figure Arjun aiming for his target. Becoming a pilot was not a straightforward path. Prashansa demonstrated immense grit and determination, dedicating seven to eight hours daily to her studies. She underwent rigorous ground training in Delhi, mastering complex subjects such as Navigation, Meteorology, and Air Regulation. Her efforts paid off when she passed these challenging exams on her first attempt. Further, she cleared the Radio Telephonic Exam in Kolkata, showcasing her aptitude and skill in aviation communication. When it came to the competitive selection process for Indigo, Prashansa stood out. Among the 24 pilots chosen in her group, she was the only woman, marking a significant milestone in her career and for the city of Raigarh. The next chapter of Prashansa’s journey involves flying training in New Zealand for a year, followed by advanced training for the Airbus A-320 in Abu Dhabi. Her story is not only a personal victory but also a beacon of inspiration for many aspiring pilots, proving that dreams are attainable through hard work and family support. Aside from her aviation pursuits, Prashansa is a multifaceted individual. She excels in classical dance, music, and kickboxing, highlighting her diverse talents. To the youth, she offers this message: set your goals, remain focused, and heed the advice of your parents. Disregard negativity, and pursue your dreams with unwavering commitment.
