IN AN era where even an underprivileged parent wishes for his ward to join a CBSE school, surprisingly, the schools run by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) are attracting a huge number of students. The six English schools of NMC have received 825 applications for 353 seats. The enthusiastic response of parents for admission to NMC’s English medium schools continues this year as well. Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari said that efforts were being made to increase the number of English schools in the coming years to accomodate each and every student willing for admission to the schools. The schools are being run in collaboration with Akanksha Foundation.

The students not only get quality education but they don’t have to pay a single penny also. NMC started imparting English medium education from 2021 with an aim that the students of NMC schools should not be left behind in competing with the students of other schools.

The schools include Babhulban English Medium School in East Nagpur, Ram Nagar English Medium School inWest Nagpur, Rani Durgavati English Medium School in North Nagpur, R a m b h a u Mhalginagar English Medium School in South Nagpur, late Baburao Bobde Municipal English Medium School in Central Nagpur. This year, admissions were also given for Junior KG, Senior KG, Grade 1 and Grade 2.
