An Eerie Encounter

In the dead of the night, A whisper’s dread, Through the woods Where shadows spread. A cottage with windows black, A place where no one dares go back. A lantern flickers, dim and cold, Inside, a tale of terrors told. A creak, a moan, the floorboards shift, Dark secrets in the night, they drift. A portrait hung, eyes seem to stare, A girl once lived, But now she’s isn't there. Her smile twisted, her eyes aglow, A chilling presence, sure to show. The clock strikes twelve, The air grows thin, A ghostly wail, the nightmare’s kin. She reaches out with fingers pale, A ghostly grip, a mournful wail. But twist of fate, the living flee, Into the night, they’re never free. For in the woods, the shadows creep, And in the dark, the spirits weep. No dawn will break this cursed night, Eternal darkness, endless fright. In the woods where shadows spread, You’ll join the lost, the never-dead.
