A delegation of around 70 Naxal-affected people from the Bastar region met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence on Thursday in New Delhi. Led by the Bastar Shanti Samiti, a group working for peace and development in Naxal-hit areas, the delegation shared their harrowing experiences and sought justice and rehabilitation. Many of the victims had lost family members or suffered severe injuries, with some left permanently disabled. The primary aim of this meeting was to raise national awareness about the plight of those affected by Naxal violence. The victims described how Naxal attacks had disrupted their lives, leaving them physically and emotionally scarred. The Home Minister listened attentively, expressing admiration for their resilience and courage.

He assured them that the government is fully committed in addressing their concerns and eradicating Naxalism. The victims acknowledged the crucial role played by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the Chhattisgarh government in giving them the courage to bring their voices to Delhi. They praised the government’s focus on development and security in Bastar, which helped instil hope among the affected people. Under Chief Minister Sai’s leadership, significant progress in rehabilitation and development in Naxal-hit areas has been achieved, which the victims described as a lifeline. One victim shared, “We lost our families and our livelihoods, but the state government’s efforts have given us the strength to raise our voices in Delhi. Chief Minister Sai has not only understood our pain but also assured us of justice.”

The group also gathered at Jantar Mantar before the meeting, with their demands for development, justice, and peace. Inspired by the state’s efforts, they expressed hope that their suffering would now receive national attention. The delegation will meet President Droupadi Murmu on September 21 to further discuss securing peace in Naxal-affected areas. They plan to submit a memorandum demanding enhanced security measures, faster development, and comprehensive rehabilitation.
