Do not use Govt ambulances, Collector Deepak Saxena slams private hospitals

 

 

Collector Deepak Saxena has warned the private hospitals not to use Government ambulances to increase their number of patients. Taking serious stand over the wrong use of 108 ambulances, Collector, Saxena instructed the concerned officers of Health Department to improve the system and ensure systematic operation of 108 ambulances. It may be mentioned that following the road accident at Sihora two days back, the injured were referred to the Government hospital for treatment through 108 ambulance. But the driver and technician of 108 ambulance took the injured to a private hospital instead of Government one and admitted them there. When the truth came to fore, Collector, Saxena terminated two drivers and a technician from their services and issued show cause notice to the Zonal Manager, 108 Ambulance and one other concerned person. On Friday, Collector Saxena called an important meeting to ensure effective and systematic operation of ambulance services in the district.

 

The meeting was attended by Additional Collector, Misha Singh, all the SDMs, Chief Medical and Health Officer, Dr. Sanjay Mishra and State Coordinator, 108 Ambulance, Nitin Bajpai and other concerned officers. The Collector said that the 108 ambulance should carry the patient to the particular hospital where the patient has been referred to. If any ambulance driver takes the patient to another hospital, the patient must immediately complain against the driver. Collector, Saxena also raised doubt that these drivers take patients to the private hospital for receiving commission. He also sought detail report about operation of 108 ambulances from August 1 to September 15, 2024, from the State Coordinator, 108 Ambulance. The report should have clear mention about which ambulance carried which patient to which hospital during this period. So that the report can be studied and effective action can be taken. He also demanded report of indoor patients of last 45 days from the private hospitals. The Collector said that ambulance service is an important service which should not be dragged in any controversy. Few private hospitals make use of government ambulances for increasing their patients to make money.
