‘Culprit in sexual assault of nine-yr-old girl identified, arrested within 5 days’

COMMISSIONER of Police Dr Ravinder Singal, on Friday, informed that the Crime Branch succeeded in putting behind bars one Ganpat Nanaji Jaipurkar (56) for sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl in front of her younger sister. Speaking to mediapersons, Dr Singal said that Jaipurkar, a carpenter by profession, had offered the victim’s five-year-old sister Rs 20 to stay silent after committing the heinous act. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon in Pardi area when the two girls were alone at home as their parents, daily wagers, had gone to work. The family had moved back to Nagpur three months ago from Gondia where they had been living for the past few years. The crime came to light when the victim told her parents what had happened after they returned home. They immediately went to the Pardi Police Station to lodge an FIR. The medical examination of the victim confirmed that she was raped. As per the information given by the victim’s five-year-old sister, the culprit was a Marathi-speaking man with a ‘tilak' on his forehead. “Crime Branch teams checked the footage of hundreds of CCTV cameras installed at various places in the area to identify the accused and finally arrested Jaipurkar,” Dr Singal said. 
 
Five house break-ins detected, stolen cash and gold worth Rs 12.79 lakh recovered
 
City Police Chief Dr Singal informed that Crime Branch’s Unit-3 apprehended two members of a burglars’ gang, linked to five recent break-ins in the city. The arrests led to the recovery of stolen valuables valued at over Rs 12.79 lakh, including 167.5 gramme gold, Rs 27,000 in cash, and a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle (MH-49/V-1254). The arrested suspects, identified as Sandeep Khemchand Thombre (24) from Dunda Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, and Prafulla Devendra Patle (26) from Nageshwar Nagar, Bidgaon, Pardi, confessed during interrogation to committing five house break-ins in the Jaripatka, Hudkeshwar, and Wathoda areas. Four of their accomplices—Shekhar Arjun Gaikwad, Aakash Bokde, Ajay Bhorkar, and Rakesh Chaturvedi—remain at large. Acting on credible intelligence, the Unit-3 team detained Thombre and Patle, leading to their confession and subsequent recovery of the stolen items. The accused were handed over to Jaripatka Police for further investigation. 
 
Marijuana valued at Rs 18.62 lakh seized, 5 drug-peddlers arrested 
 
Dr Singal said that the Crime Branch raided a house at Plot No 12, Arya Nagar in Jaripatka area and seized 94 kilogramme marijuana valued at Rs 18.62 lakh from drug-peddlers. Five persons were arrested in this connection. The accused have been identified as Umar Khan Abdul Rasheed Khan (30), Daraksha Anjum alias Ranu Khan Umar Khan (29), both residents of Kanji House Square, Ramai Nagar, Shaikh Rizwan Shaikh Yunus (24), a resident of Islamic Chowk, Juni Basti, Badnera, district Amravati, Abdul Arif Abdul Khalik (32), a resident of Aajri Majri, Yashodhara Nagar, and Mohammad Junaid Ibrahim Rajwani (31), a resident of Shiv Nagar. Search for another accused Kushif Ahmad, a resident of Jafar Nagar, was on. Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, ACP (Crime) Dr Abhijeet Patil and other officers of the Crime Branch were present at the press conference.
