NAGPUR district athletes set the track on fire winning as many as six gold, three silver and a bronze medal in the 38th Maharashtra State Junior Athletics Championship organised by Pune District Athletics Association under the auspices of Maharashtra State Athletics Association at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports City, Balewadi, Pune. In 400m, Kashish Bhagat of Mahatma Gandhi English Medium High School and Junior College bagged the gold medal with a time of 58.09 seconds. In the same age group, Janhvi Hirudkar of Hindu Mulinchi Shala bagged the yellow metal in 1000m event, clocking 2:52.00s. Track Star Athletics Club’s Chaitali Borekar bagged the 1500m gold medal with a timing of 4:52.23s. In the 100m hurdles, Sanyogita Misar of Nav-Maharashtra Krida Mandal won the bronze medal with a time of 16.78. Ayesha Naseem of BKCP Kanhan bagged the bronze medal with 31.59m in Under-20 girls’ discus throw event.
 
Bhuvaneshwari Masram of Nav-Maharashtra Krida Mandal won silver medal with a timing of 1.07.60 seconds in the U20 girls’ 400m hurdles. Anjali Madavi won the bronze medal in 3000m steeplechase with 12.06.52s. Abhimanyu Kushwaha of Khel Foundation bagged the gold medal with a throw of 16.32 meters in the U18 boys shot put event. In the same age group, Harshal Joge of Om Sai Sporting Club won the gold medal (2:31.65) in the 1000m event. Prajwal Dhanre of Rising Sprinters bagged the silver medal in the U20 boys’ 400m hurdles event with a time of 57.08 seconds. In the same age group, district team captain Samit Tong, and an athlete of Track Star Athletics Club, won the gold medal with 3:59.61s.
