Nehal storms into quarter-finals

 

 

TOP seed in women’s singles Nehal Gosavi stormed into the quarter-finals of the ongoing Raisoni Foundation’s Yonex-Sunrise GH Raisoni Memorial Vidarbha-Level Badminton Tournament on Saturday. The tournament is being organised by Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation and Nagpur District Badminton Association under the auspices of Maharashtra Badminton Association at Subhedar Badminton Hall, RTMNU Campus, Ravi Nagar. In the prequarter-final, Nehal crushed Siddhi Gawande of Washim 15-5, 15-7 to record an easy win.

 

In another match of the same category, Priya Bhardwaj defeated Manshree Rane 15-8, 17-15 while Ditisha Somkuwar walked into the last eight after Mayura Chawre did not turn up for her match. Garima Murkey of Wardha thrashed Nagpur’s Parisa Meshram 15-0, 15-2 to book a quarters berth while Mugdha Sawarkar of Nagpur ousted Kinjal Niwarti of Wardha 15-7, 15-5 to move into the quarters. In the Under-15 girls singles, top seed Fizza Akbani defeated Amita Jondhale 15-2, 15-1 to move into the next round along with Sanvi Ghate, who defeated Amravati’s Maitreyi Ramteke 15-4, 15-7.
