BILASPUR/RAIPUR,
IN A decisive move,
Chhattisgarh’s Health Minister
Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, has suspended the Dean of
Chhattisgarh Institute of
Medical Sciences (CIMS)
Dr K K Sahare and Medical
Superintendent (MS) Dr S K
Nayak, following a series of
complaints about
administrative lapses and
financial irregularities.
The suspensions came after
the Health Minister expressed
strong displeasure during a
meeting of the CIMS governing committee in Bilaspur, citing a lack of transparency and
accountability in the institution’s operations.
Speaking to mediapersons
following the meeting,
Minister Jaiswal did not hold
back in his criticism of CIMS’
management.
“The government prioritises good governance and the
welfare of the poor, but what
we have seen here is a complete failure of leadership. Such
negligence cannot be tolerated, and those responsible must
face the consequences,” he
stated. The Health Minister’s
firm stance followed reports of
mismanagement at CIMS,
where previous purchases and
financial records related to the
Ayushman Bharat scheme were
allegedly mishandled.
The investigation uncovered
that critical records on procurement and finances had not
been properly maintained,
raising suspicions of financial
discrepancies. The Minister
directed a thorough probe into
purchases made under
Ayushman Bharat over the past
three years. These irregularities,
combined with the administration’s failure to address concerns about the institution’s
overall functioning, led to the
decision to suspend both
Dr Sahare and Dr Nayak Minister Jaiswal emphasised that medical professionals must work with a sense of service and integrity.
“Our priority is to ensure that public healthcare institutions like
CIMS are run efficiently, with a commitment to service and transparency,” he added, underscoring the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward administrative failure.
