Two students of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have been booked on ragging charges by Sonegaon Police on Saturday. According to police, two students, Divyanshu Rathod and Aman Ahlawat, both from the 2021 BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology batch, have been booked following a complaint from a fellow student Ansh Kumar, who reported the incident to the Anti-Ragging Committee of AIIMS. According to Sonegaon Police, on September 21, around 9.30 pm, Ansh Kumar was reportedly taken to his Keshav Hostel room, where he faced aggressive questioning and threats from Rathod and Ahlawat. Ansh Kumar’s cries for help attracted attention of the other students, who intervened to assist him. Following the incident, Ansh lodged a complaint on September 23 and Sachin Ramesh Choudhary, a committee member conducted an inquiry.

The investigation concluded that Rathod and Ahlawat were guilty of ragging and Choudhary filed a formal complaint with the Sonegaon Police. The Police have registered a case against the duo under the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act of 1999 and Indian Penal Code. A police official said that they were conducting inquiry into the matter and proper action would be initiated soon.

Second incident in city after two years
