THE Shymla Hills Police on Tuesday arrested a man over the charges of looting Directorate of Archaeology Archives and Museum in the city. The accused identified as Vinod Yadav(49) , a resident of Bihar’s Gaya was nabbed by the police for stealing antique items, gold, silver coins and valuable items of Moughal era from the Tribal Museum valued to Rs 15 crore.
 
“After purchasing the ticket on Sunday, Vinod Yadav went inside the museum and did recce of the area. After gathering the information, he hid himself inside the premises and carried the theft of antique items during night. Vinod tried multiple ways of escaping the museum but he failed. As the museum remains closed on Mondays, the heist was reported to the cops on Tuesday by the concerned”, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone 3 Shalini Dikshit said taking to ‘The Hitavada’. Vinod, who remained inside the museum for two days got himself injured while climbing a pipe in escaping the premises. Notably, the police have sealed the area of the museum and have also recovered the looted coins and other valued material. Further, the cops stated that a team will be send to Gaya to check background of Vinod Yadav.

The heist gives a reality check of the loopholes of the museum. Lack of surveillance is sounding death kneel for the security of the denizens.
