A WOMAN was killed and 10
passengers were injured when
a speeding bus overturned near
14-mile in Belkhadu village.
Two of the injured are reported to be critical while other
passengers sustained partial
injuries. Critically injured passengers are undergoing treatment at Netaji Subhash
Chandra Bose Medical College
and Hospital. The deceased has
been identified as Vandana
Jharia (30), a resident of Majholi
while Nidhi Sharma and
Priyadarshni, posted at Majholi
Primary Health Centre were
critically injured.
The incident took place
when a private bus ferrying
around 25 passengers from
Katangi towards Majholi overturned due to bursting of front
side tyre. After the incident, villagers started rescuing the passengers and immediately called
the police and 108 ambulance
service.
Learning about the incident,
police reached the spot and
rushed the three critically
injured women to Medical
College and Hospital Jabalpur
where one of the injured
Vandana Jharia of Majholi succumbed to her grave injuries
while condition of two other injured Nidhi Sharma and
Priyadarshni, posted at
Majholi Primary Health
Centre are reported to be stable and undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Additional SP (Rural),
Sonali Dubey informed that,
prima facie, police learnt that
the incident took place due
to bursting of front side tyre
of the bus. Police have seized
the bus while further investigations are underway to
ascertain exact reason
behind the incident.
