The newly-arrived State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sukhveer Singh chaired a meeting with all the Collectors and District Election Officers (DEOs) through video conferencing on Wednesday. During the meeting, he discussed the pre-revision activities going on in the districts under the special summary revision of Voter List-2025 and gave necessary instructions in this regard. CEO Singh said that all officers should take the work of photo electoral roll seriously. Booth Level Officer (BLO) must compulsorily survey the voters door-to-door and report the progress daily. Ensure that the name of any dead person is not in the voter list. Singh said that the youth who are completing 18 years of age as on 1 January, 2025 can apply in advance to get their names added in the youth voters’ list.

Along with this, the youth who are completing 18 years of age as on 1 October, 2024 can also apply in advance to get their names added in the voters’ list. Singh said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to set up polling stations in societies and multi-storey colonies as well. He said that the community hall of the colonies or the society office can be made a polling station. Chief Election Officer Singh said that special campaigns should be run to add names of women voters in the districts where the gender ratio is low. “Take the help of Anganwadi workers, assistants, Asha, Usha, Gram Panchayat secretaries and women teachers posted in Government schools,” he added. “Name of any individual who passed away should not be there in the voters’ list. Along with this, take action to remove such voters whose name is registered at more than one place through Form 7. Voters can also get the errors in the voter ID card rectified by filling Form 8,” he said. Notably, under the Special Summary Revision of Voters’ List-2025, preliminary activities have started from August 20.

During this, BLO (Booth Level Officer) should go to every house and do physical verification of voters. He instructed all the officers and employees to be cautious and not to be negligent in this work. “Upload the photo of the polling station on the app after physical verification of polling stations. Send a proposal to build new polling stations in place of dilapidated polling stations. The names of members of a family should be registered at one polling station and one part. Also ensure that the distance of the polling station should not be more than 2 km and the number of voters at one polling station should not be more than 1500,” mentioned CEO Singh while addressing the meeting. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Kumar Kaul, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Basant Kurre, Vivek Shrotiya and other officers were present in the meeting.
