NARAYANA Vidyalayam held their nerves and pipped St John’s High School, Mohan Nagar 3-2 in an exciting tie-breaker to lift the Under-17 Inter-School Football Tournament title winning the final match played on Saturday at Divisional Sports Complex Ground. The tournament was organised by District Sports Office. The match ended 1-1 in regulation time. It was St John’s that took lead in the 16th minute through Ojas Sirsat. The lead kept the Mohan Nagar-based school in the driver’s seat right till clock neared the end of play. But in the dying minutes of the game, Narayana Vidyalayam bounced back and equalised through Shourya Choudhary.

This sent the final into a tie-breaker. Narayana Vidyalayam were able to find success through the strikes of Ayush Khape, Shourya Choudhary and Saish Majumdar while former champions St John’s High School could find the nets only twice through Ojas Sirsat and Shayaan Khan. Anil Borwar, Arthur Caleb, Dayanand Singh, Shubham Pandey and Mrunal Shyamkuwar were among those who officiated in the tournament.
