By Anupam Soni :
WCL Umrer limbo skater,
Shrishti Dharmendra
Sharma has been setting and
breaking her own records
right from 2014. After making
her maiden entry into the
Guinness Book of World
Records, Shrishti has created
a record of sorts by making it
to the Guinness Book of
World Records on nine occasions. The latest came at
Monza (Milan), Italy.
The 19-year-old Shrishti
effortlessly swifts underneath
the obstacles. Recently, she
created a new GuinnessWorld
Record for fastest time to limbo skate under descending
bars over 50 metres at
Autodromo Nazionale
Formula 1 Car Race track
Monza (Milan), Italy taking a
mere 9.6 seconds.
The event was organised
by Banijay Italia for Lo Show
Dei Record.
Shrishti attempted this
record at 8pm when the temperature was less than zero
degree Celsius which was
quite a difficult ambience for
the Umrer girl to attempt the
record. She was awarded with
a medal and a certificate
engraved with the symbol of
Guinness World Records on
it by the official judge of
Guinness World Record Sofia
Greenacre.
Back in Nagpur, Shrishti
was felicitated by
Union Minister Nitin
Gadkari for achieving
the GuinnessWorld Record in
Milan.
“It was an incredible honour and a memorable experience. I wish to thank all who
have supported me in creating another milestone in
Milan, Italy,” Shrishti told‘The
Hitavada’.
Shrishti has been achieving
new heights since she was
just 11. China’s Xu Wue was
the first record holder of limbo skating over 50 metres with
a timing of 7.97 seconds set
in 2011. Shrishti broke this
record and brought the record
to a remarkable timing of 7.38
seconds. Not satisfied, she
worked hard to better it. She
broke the previous record of
7.38 seconds set in 2021 to a
brand new milestone of 6.94
seconds in 2023.
The first Guinness World
Records title that Shrishti
achieved, aged 10, was the
lowest limbo skating over 10
metres in which she passed
under the height of 16.5 centimetres height.
In 2015, the second
Guinness World Records title
that Shrishti achieved at the
age of 11 was lowest limbo
skating over 25 metres. She
successfully skated underneath 25 bars placed at the
incredibly low height of 17
cm (6.69 in).
In 2017, Shrishti took her
talents to an ice rink, where
she achieved the lowest limbo ice skating over 10 metres
at a height of 17.78 cm (7 in)
and became the world’s first
ice limbo skater.
Shrishti broke the record of
fastest time to limbo skate
under 10 bars (2.062 secs) to
1.72 secs in 2020 at her very
own Centre Point School,
Wardhaman Nagar, Nagpur.
The hunger of giving her best
kept on driving her to break
her very own record. She further quickened her timing to
1.69 secs in 2021 and then to
1.23 secs in 2023.
Apart from excelling in limbo skating, Shrishti has also
done well in studies. She has
scored 86% in her class 12th
CBSE examination. Her aim
is to get admission in Armed
Force Medical College so as
to serve Indian Army. She had
also participated in RSFI
Roller Hockey National
Championships and is a
bronze medallist in short track
ice speed skating.
