In a remarkable display of technological advancement in agriculture, Dhamtari’s farmer Raman Sahu operates his solar pump through a mobile app, eliminating the need for physical presence. The initiative, introduced by Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA), marks a significant leap in solar pump automation, showcasing how technology can streamline irrigation processes and improve efficiency. CREDA CEO Rajesh Singh Rana, during a surprise inspection of solar installations in Dhamtari district, encountered Raman Sahu managing his solar pump remotely. Intrigued, Rana inquired about the distance range of the operation. Sahu revealed, “I control my solar pump from my home, but once I even operated it from Assam while traveling.”

The CREDA team elaborated that under the Saur Sujla Yojana Phase-VII, a 3HP DC solar pump was installed at Sahu’s farm in February 2024, equipped with the Remote Monitoring System (RMS). This advanced system enables farmers to operate pumps from anywhere, provided network access, resulting in significant time savings and enhanced productivity. Sahu expressed that the saved time is utilized for other essential tasks, further optimizing his farm operations. Recognizing the transformative potential of such innovations, CREDA CEO Rajesh Singh Rana emphasized the need to expand automation features to more farmers.

He directed officials to raise awareness about the RMS system and its advantages, encouraging wider adoption. In addition, Rana introduced the Saur Samadhan mobile app, which allows CREDA consumers to report operational issues with their solar installations. The app ensures prompt resolution of complaints at both district and headquarters levels. Available on the Play Store, this app represents a step towards enhancing user convenience and service efficiency. “This integration of remote automation through RMS and the Saur Samadhan app underscores CREDA’s commitment to empowering farmers with tools for sustainable and efficient farming practices. By adopting such innovative solutions, farmers can save time and focus on enhancing their overall productivity,” stated CREDA officials while talking to The Hitavada.
