Maverick storm into semis

 

 

MAVERICK Football Club scored two late goals through Swarup Shukla to make it to the semi-finals of the JSW NDFA Senior Division Football Tournament at Dr Ambedkar Football Stadium in Suyog Nagar on Thursday. In the quarter-final, Maverick defeated Nobel Sports Academy 2-0 to make it to the last four of the competition. After playing a goalless first half, Maverick finally found the back of the net in the 68th minute when Shukla scored the opener.

 

The striker doubled the lead and put Maverick in a position of strength in the 76th minute scoring the second goal of the match. Nobel Sports Academy’s Divaraj Singh and Pranav Nimbarte were cautioned for dangerous play. EAGLE SC BEAT RAHUL BROTHERS In the Super Division League, Eagle Sports Club defeated Rahul Brothers 2-0 to record their first win from two games in Group B. After a barren first half, Sharukh Anjum gave Eagle Sports lead on the hour mark. Gaurav Bagde stretched the lead in the 75th minute. Iqbal Danish (Eagle) and Shawn Gregory, Aniket Khadse (Rahul Brothers) were cautioned by the referee. Eagle Sports have now jumped to the second spot in Group B with three points and better goal average. The table is being led by Nagpur Sporting with six points.
