SHO of Panagar police station Ajay Bahadur Singh informed that on January 8, Navi Mohammad (26), an engineer at Aahan Project Private Limited, lodged a complaint at Panagar Police Station. He informed that the company had an agreement with ISC Company for construction of bridge structures near a bypass.
The site had a temporary hutment for workers, where materials like shuttering plates, base jacks, couplers, pipes, laser equipment, dewatering pumps, and 32mm steel were stored.
According to the complaint, contractor, Jiyaul Haq, and security guard, Lakhanlal Patel, locked the hutment at around 12:30 am and went for a site inspection. On return, after approximately 1.5 hours, they found the lock broken and 10-12 individuals loading the material in a pickup truck.
When the contractor and security guard raised an alarm, the accused lobbed two country-made bombs to threaten them. The loud explosions alerted other workers nearby, causing the thieves to flee towards Jaitna village in a pickup truck with the stolen material. The truck (MP-20GB-1057), a mobile phone and a motorcycle (MP-20ZM-7231) were left behind by the culprits.
In the interrogation, accused disclosed the location of stolen materials and pickup truck used in the crime.
