Admin initiates rescue work at Kusum Plant

THE Mungeli district administration has initiated round the clock large scale rescue work at Kusum Plant located at village Rambod after one labour was killed and about half a dozen wounded when the silo (ash container) of the plant crashed on the ground on Thursday afternoon. Both NDRF and SDRF teams are working 24x7 with heavy cranes to remove the sub-structures and slag of the crashed silo and rescue other labourers who are still trapped inside. District Collector Rahul Dev, Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhojram Patel and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of District Panchayat Prabhakar Pandey along with other senior Police and administrative officers are also camping at the spot to monitor the rescue operation.
 
On Friday MLA Dharamlal Kaushik reached the spot and took stock of the situation. The site clearance work has been completed at the Plant and the silo structure will be removed soon. Meanwhile, on Friday the relatives and family members of deceased Manoj Ghritalhare (30) who was killed in the mishap created ruckus in Bilaspur District Hospital demanding compensation. They said that many people were injured in the horrific accident that took place on Thursday at Kusum Plant. Seriously injured Manoj succumbed during treatment at a private hospital here. On Friday, the body was taken to District Hospital, Bilaspur for postmortem where the family created a ruckus demanding compensation. The family alleged that the plant management was neither talking to them nor taking any initiative for compensation. They said that they are from a poor family and were unable to bear the cost of cremation. Dharamlal Kaushik also met with the family members to console them. He said that discussions were going on between the administration and plant management in the matter and the bereaved family will be compensated for the unbearable loss.
