A team of Forest Department rescued two crocodiles from the house of former MLA Harvansh Singh Rathore in Sagar. Tax Department discovered tax evasion amounting to approximately Rs 150 crore. The team found huge amount of gold and cash at the residence of Rathore’s brother and relatives, who were partners in his firm. Contd oDuring the raid, it was reported that there were three crocodiles at Rathore’s house. On January 6, the Income Tax Department conducted raids at three locations in Sagar. The raids have concluded, revealing significant tax evasion and discovery of documents linked to disproportionate properties.
 
The department has seized these documents and started a detailed investigation. Harvansh Singh Rathore, a former MLA from Banda in Sagar district, is currently in the race for the post of BJP district president. The Income Tax teams, arriving from Bhopal, reached Sagar at around 8 am on Sunday with nearly 10 vehicles. Assets worth over Rs 200 crore were found during the raid. According to the reports, 14 kg of gold, including jewellery and bullion, was seized from Rathore’s premises. Of this, 9.8 kg of gold was confiscated. Besides this, Rs 3.8 crore in cash was also seized. Documents related to disproportionate properties, worth hundreds of crores, were found at the house of Kesharwani. These documents included records of cash transactions amounting to Rs 140 crore. The investigation revealed that Rathore has been involved in the Bidi business, as well as construction and land dealings in partnership with Kesharwani. Raid at Rathore’s properties concluded on January 7, while the investigation at Kesharwani’s properties is still going on. Documents related to large-scale cash transactions and money laundering has been found. n page 2
