Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav expressed grief and announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the bereaved families 
 
After untiring efforts by the rescue team that lasted for about 22 hours in Khunajhir Khurd village of Chhindwara district, the lives of three workers trapped under the the debris of a well collapse could not be saved. However, the bodies could not be taken out of the well till the filing of this report. The NDRF team was trying to take out the bodies of workers.
 
On the tragedy, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has expressed grief and announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of deceased workers. CM Yadav in a post on X said police, Home Guard personnel and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team immediately started the rescue work and made every possible effort to bring out the workers safely, but they could not be saved. “Sad news has been received about the untimely death of 3 workers in an accident caused by soil collapse during the digging of an old well on a private land in village Khunajhir Khurd under Chhindwara district,” he said. Meanwhile, the well deepening work was going on in the field of one Aishrav Vastrane in Khunajhir Khurd village of Chhindwara. For this, the contract was given to the team of Rajasthan and Bhopal. Workers from Raisen and Budhni had come here to work. During the excavation at around 4 pm on Tuesday, debris and stones fell from above. Three workers, including mother and son, were buried under it. The name of deceased are Wasid, son of Kallu Khan, 18 years, resident of Sultanpur, Raisen, Rashid, son of Nanhe Khan, 18, resident of Tulsipar, Budhni and Shahzadi, wife Nanhe Khan, 50, resident of Tulsipar Budhni.
