Nagpur’s Cardiac Surgeon performed Central India’s first Da Vinci robotic-assisted Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) surgery. The groundbreaking procedure was performed by Dr Saurabh Varshney, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon. Robotic-Assisted CABG is a cutting-edge surgical technique that enhances precision and reduces trauma compared to conventional open-heart surgeries.

 

This state-of-the-art procedure utilises advanced robotic technology to perform the bypass through small incisions, minimising the need for sternotomy (opening the chest). The minimally invasive approach ensures faster recovery, reduced post-operative pain, shorter hospital stays, and minimal scarring. The patient, a 60-year-old female hailing from Akola, was suffering from severe coronary artery disease. She underwent the procedure at KIMS-Kingsway Hospitals in Nagpur and is now recovering well. She is expected to return to normal activities much sooner than would be possible with traditional methods. Dr Tushar Gawad, Unit Head at KIMS Kingsway Hospitals said, “The introduction of Da Vinci robotic-assisted surgeries allows us to offer patients a safer, more effective, and less invasive alternative to traditional procedures.
