Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has decided to fix the timeline for receipt of various certificates to students. A proposal regarding this issue was submitted by Senate Member Ajay Chavan and Waman Turke presented it. Vice-Chancellor Dr Prashant Bokare took a serious cognisance of it and gave a verdict that students should get their certificates in time. In the proposal, it was said that students submitted their applications for the receipt of certificates of Eligibility, Migration, Retaining certificate and transcription. They pay the required amount but in most cases, they don’t receive certificates in time.

Adv Manmohan Bajpayee supported the proposal and pointed out that on most occasions, students submit applications online but they have to come to university off-line to pay the amount. According to Bajpayee, such practices should be stopped. Many students stay abroad or out of Nagpur. University should make the procedure completely online. Vice-Chancellor asked the official of the department concerned to take action immediately and prepare a timeline for the same. Vice-Chancellor pointed out that once the timeline was fixed, students must get the certificates in time. On several occasions, students come in a hurry to procure their certificates needed to be submitted on urgent basis. University, too, is not a position to provide the same. Dr Bokare asked to follow the timetable once it is prepared.

Adv Manmohan Bajpayee moved a proposal demanding to felicitate Padma Shri Shankarbaba Papalkar and Dr Ravindra and Dr Smita Kolhe and award honorary DLitt to them. Ajay Agrawal, senate member, supporting the proposal, added that Padma Shri Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram, noted neurophysician who has been heading the international bodies of neurology and has been creating awareness about brain diseases, should also be included in the above list. Agrawal pointed out that Dr Meshram’s services were recognised by Government and he was awarded Padma Shri. Plus, Dr Meshram is an alumnus of this university. The Senate accepted the addition. Now university will prepare a proposal to seek permission from Governor, V-C said.

V-C entertains student’s call, DR responds

A student, who was not aware who to call phoned RTMNU V-C Dr Prashant Bokare and requested to get his transcript done. Normally, Vice-Chancellor doesn’t pick up the call, but Dr Bokare attended and he came to know that the student needed some documents to be submitted with some foreign university. Dr Bokare asked Deputy Registrar Dr Navin Mungle to look into it. Dr Mungle issued the required documents to the student within a day. Dr Bokare patted on the back of Dr Mungle in the Senate meeting and told everyone that Dr Mungle acted as a good samaritan as those transcripts proved to be savior for the student.
