It was the best start for Nagpur shuttker Ritika Thaker at the All India Public Sector Badminton Tournament at KBA Stadium in Begnaluru. Ritika Thaker, representing Airport Authority of India (AAI), helped her side win the final against FCI on Friday.

 

In the summit clash against Food Corporation Of India, Tanya Hemant beat Sukanya Chaudhary 21-5, 21-7 to give AAI lead. In the second singles, Anmol Kharab made light work of FCI’s Anagha Pai with the scores reading 21-6, 21-6. In the third clash Ritika, partnering Priya Devi, faced the challenge from an experienced pair of Anagha Pai and Srisai Shravya. The AAI pair took the first game 21-6 but Anagha and Srisai fought back to win the second game 21-19. In the decider, things were not going in favour of Ritika and Priya as they committed some unforced errors. Trailing 16-19, Ritika and Priya put their act together and played some aggressive badminton to level the score first and then wrap up the match at 23-21 and title. Ritika trains at Suchita Academy and has thanked AAI for their support.
