The Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg will see its completion upto Mumbai from Nagpur by February this year. The final phase connecting Igatpuri to Mumbai will be opened for traffic within a month. The Expressway will reduce the travel time from Nagpur to Mumbai to 8 hours from current 16 hours. At present, the Expressway’s 701 kms stretch from Nagpur to Igatpuri near Nashik is ready while the remaining part of the 6-lane project from Igatpuri to Mumbai will be completed by February. Samruddhi Expressway is a dream project of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He had promised people that the ambitious project would ease the traffic and reduce the travel time between Nagpur-Mumbai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Devendra Fadnavis played a significant role in making this dream come true. The expressway will become as a game-changer for commuters and for businesses of the State. The Samruddhi Mahamarg has a design speed of 150 km/h featuring 65 flyovers, six tunnels, and 24 interchanges. Already users have started experiencing its benefits.
 
For example, now people using this expressway can reach in 4 hours at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. German technology is used while constructing twin tunnels near Kasara. Government has taken safety and convenience of the commuters into account that’s why 30 fuel stations and 21 emergency response vehicles have made available. Samruddhi Expressway connects 10 districts directly and 14 indirectly. According to Fadnavis, the expressway will boost industrial growth and create job opportunities in the State. The expressway has given the revenue of Rs 1,100 crore through tolls in only two years from nearly 1.50 crore vehicles. Nagpur’s Pyare Khan’s company is looking after this toll business. To expedite the last phase Fadnavis has appointed Dr Anilkumar Gaikwad as Chief Engineer of this project. He is presently working as Managing Director of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). Considering his expertise in civil works, Fadnavis roped in Dr Gaikwad. Known for his expertise, Dr Gaikwad played an instrumental role in setting up various major infrastructural projects in the State. He is known for ensuing projects in time and in an efficient manner.
