The process of development in Maharashtra has set new benchmarks as completion of public projects is fastest in the country. Taking pride in the achievement, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reiterated commitment to transformation of Maharashtra through infrastructure development as same is interlinked with economic progress. Chief Minister was speaking at dedication of seven railway overbridges (RoBs) at a function held in city on Sunday, underlining a fact that the delivery of projects has increased.

Recalling the earlier times when one Government used to lay foundation, an other used to take it half way through and the next Government then inaugurated the same. In the process, citizens suffered the most due to delay in completion of infrastructure projects. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisaged, Maharashtra Government has laid thrust on speedy delivery of public projects, and particularly lauded Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (MRIDCL) for the efficacy and commitment to implementation of Government’s vision. The programme was held at Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth’s Post Graduate Hostel campus on Central Bazar Road. Maharashtra Minister of State Adv Ashish Jaiswal, legislators Krishna Khopde, Kishor Jorgewar and Shyam Khode also were present at the programme. Echoing the word of MahaRail MD Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal, the Chief Minister stated that Itwari-Umrer, a 65 km section of Broad Gauge railway network, would herald new development in the Eastern Vidarbha region.

Recalling the contribution of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in giving thrust to infrastructure development in State, Chief Minister said, Maharashtra Government is also working in tandem for improving ease of living of citizens. Maharashtra Government is committed to bringing about the change and said the way Maha Rail is working, the speed as well the uniqueness in each project is visible. Earlier, MahaRail MD Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal listed the achievements of the organisation and specially in Nagpur. The Nagpur-Nagbhid railway line is the most prestigtious as same is likely to be commissioned by November. Further, he said nearly 200 infrastructure projects in State are in various stages and in next two years, it would herald sea change in the way people travel.

Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal, MD, MahaRail, informed that the section, likely to open in April later this year, would cut down the travel time from Umrer mines of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) to Koradi and Khaparkheda plants of MahaGenco from 4 hours to 22 minutes.
