With a proud feeling Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told the audience that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the one and only party that is owned by people. He was speaking during the launching of the party’s membership drive at Mahatma Phule Sabhagruh, Reshimbag, on Sunday. Vidarbha Organising Secretary Dr Upendra Kothekar, State Vice-President Sanjay Bhende, City President Bunty Kukde, District President Sudhakar Kohale, MLA Krishna Khopde, Mohan Mate, Pravin Datke, former MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh, Dr Milind Mane, Adv Dharmapal Meshram, Ashwini Jinchkar, Ram Ambulkar, Ritesh Gawande, Vinod Kanhere, Vijay Asole, Ganesh Kantode, Shrikant Aglave, Sandeep Gavai, hundreds of office-bearers of the party also were present. “Except BJP and the Communist party all other parties are privately owned parties.

Now, BJP remained the only party owned by the people. BJP follows all the rules of democracy. It is evident from the fact that even a tea seller can become the Prime Minister of India,” pointed out Fadnavis. “BJP became the world’s largest party with 11 crore members, that record, too, has to be broken. We have set a target to make more than 1.30 crore members in the State. We have resolved to make 7 lakh members by interacting with Nagpur city unit of the party,” said Fadnavis.

“The member registration campaign had started earlier too, but due to the Assembly elections in Maharashtra, the campaign was halted, so we have resumed it now. I myself have started from Nagpur and made 25 top people as members of the party in Nagpur,” informed Fadnavis to the gathering. “We have started the membership drive in one lakh booths simultaneously from today. Under the drive, 25,000 people have enrolled barely in two hours in the morning. The party aimed to enrol seven lakh more as its members in Nagpur. On September 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the BJP’s 2024 membership drive ‘Sanghatan Parva, Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024’ by renewing his membership and urging party workers to make special efforts to connect with the youth.
