The 358th Prakashotsav of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, the creator of Khalsa Panth and the tenth Guru of Sikhism was celebrated with great fervour and joy at Gurudwara Premnagar Maidan, on Sunday. A grand Kirtan Darbar was orgnaised on the occasion. A number of devotees gathered to honour the sacrifices made by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, his revered mother Mata Gujri, father Guru Tegh Bahadur and the four Sahibzadas for the greater good of the nation.
Ragi Jathas from Sri Darbar Sahib, Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar including Bhai Balwinder Singh, Bhai Jaswinder Singh from Ludhiana, Bhai Mahinder Singh Malhotra, Dilip Singh Dardi and Akhand Kirtani Jatha mesmerised the devotees with soul-stirring renditions of Gurbani Shabad Kirtan. Guru Ka Langar was also served to all the attendees.
A large number of dignitaries from all sections of the society including Sardar Prabhjot Singh, head of Gurudwara Sadar honoured 40 esteemed devotees with shawls and siropa.
Prominent guests were Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa from Punjab, MP Ashish Dubey, PWD Rakesh Singh, Sikh Sangat President Harendra Jeet Singh, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh, and others.
Speaking on the occasion, former Deputy Chief Minister and MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa highlighted the immense sacrifices made by Sikh Gurus and martyrs from the Mughal era to British rule. He emphasised the need for their rightful recognition in history and educational curricula. He
praised Guru Gobind Singh for establishing the Khalsa Panth to instil pride and courage among Indians and reiterated the Sikh community’s commitment to universal welfare. A blood donation camp was also organised by the Kaur the Queens Ladies Club with due support of City Hospital to serving humanity. The celebration concluded with a special Ardas (prayer) for the welfare of all, the reading of the Hukamnama from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the distribution of Karah Prasad.
Another grand celebration of Prakashotsav will be organised on Monday in the suburban area of Ranjhi. Bhai Jaspal Singh from Delhi, Gurbani scholar Giani Jaideep Singh from Phagwara, Punjab and other distinguished persons participate in the programme. Likewise, a Prabhat Pheri (early morning procession) will also be conducted at 6 am at Gurudwara Guru Nanak Sthali in Madatal, followed by Kirtan by Bhai Narinder Singh and his team at 9 am.
