Couple booked for running sex racket at Spa at Somalwada Square, four women rescued
Staff Reporter :
A couple has been booked by the Social Security Branch (SSB) of City police for operating a sex racket at their spa centre near Somalwada Square, within the Sonegaon police station limits. The police rescued four women who had been forced into the flesh trade by the accused.
The couple has been identified as Navin Bhagwan Singh (37), a resident of Amar Nagar, Sonegaon, and his wife Vidya alias Shruti Navin Singh (28). While Navin has been arrested, his wife remains on the run.
The bust came after a tip-off to the police about suspicious activities at Ganga Spa Centre, located near Somalwada Square. Acting on the tip-off, the SSB sent a decoy to the spa on Saturday at around 3 pm. The decoy met with Navin, who allegedly fixed a deal for Rs 4,500 for one woman.
The decoy alerted the SSB team at 4:15 PM, which led to a raid at the spa.
Upon entering, the police discovered four women who had been coerced into the sex racket by the Singh couple. During the search, the police team seized a mobile phone, Rs 4,500 in cash, a DVR, and other items. A case has been filed under the provisions of the BNS and the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA) at Sonegaon police station. Navin Singh has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of DCP Detection Rahul Maknikar, and the arrest was carried out by WPI Kavita Isarkar and her team. The police continue to search for Vidya Singh, and further investigations are ongoing.
