Four anti-socials involved in coal theft attempted to murder four Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) jawans when they tried to arrest the accused while they were stealing coal.
The incident occurred while the jawans were on duty at Mine No. 6 in Kanhan. They received a call from a security guard, Azam Khan who alerted them about a coal theft in progress.
The jawans arrived at the scene and encountered a group of locals. While the locals fled the spot, four brothers — Aman Sahani, Ankush Sahani, Saurabh Sahani, and Shubham Sahani — stayed put.
When the jawans attempted to stop the theft, the accused quartet attacked them.
The accused brothers allegedly assaulted Deviprasad Babulal Deviya, one of the jawans, and his companions. Aman Sahani struck Deviya on the head and nose with a hammer. The attackers also damaged a petrol vehicle (MH-40/CM-3339) by breaking its glass, police said.
Deviya was initially treated at Kanhan Primary Health Center and then transferred to JN Hospital, before being referred to a hospital in Nagpur.
Kanhan Police have arrested the four accused brothers on the charges of attempt
to murder and related
offences.
