Loneliness due to childlessness, coupled with financial difficulties, led a couple to end their lives in Martin Nagar. The couple filmed a video of their suicide and recorded a last message for a family friend and uploaded it on social media before taking the extreme step. The couple reportedly hanged themselves on their 28th wedding anniversary. The couple, identified as Anee Jeril Moncriff (45) and Jeril alias Tony Dasmon Oscar Moncriff (56), residents of Martin Nagar, were found dead in their home on Tuesday morning. According to police, initial investigations suggest that the couple, who had recently celebrated their anniversary with family and friends, may have been struggling with personal and financial hardships. They reportedly did not have children and Anee, a former hotel chef, had been unemployed for four years.

 

While family sources claim financial support was provided to Anee, police officials indicate that the couple may have been facing financial difficulties. Before the ending their lives, the couple recorded a video on their mobile phone and expressed their intent to take their own lives. This video was shared on their social media status and sent to some relatives. Upon discovering the video on Tuesday morning, their concerned relatives rushed to the couple’s residence and made the grim discovery. They celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary for about two days. All relatives and acquaintances were invited.

 

There was also a celebration on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. As some of their relatives live in the neighbourhood, everyone went home to sleep after having food and drinks. Anee and Jeril also retired to their room. Family sources indicated that they were deeply saddened by their inability to have children despite years of marriage. Anee for unemployed for last four months which created financial difficulties in their life. While some claim Jeril’s siblings supported him financially, police sources suggest the couple may have been facing financial difficulties. A case of accidental death has been registered at Jaripatka police station. Deputy Commissioner Niketan Kadam, Senior Inspector Arun Kshirsagar, and other police personnel arrived at the scene to investigate. The bodies were sent to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem. 

 

 

Before ending their lives, Anee and Jeril filmed videos of their suicide pact. They shot three videos: one was shot by Anee, while the other two were filmed by Jeril. In the first video, Anee was seen arriving with flowers, a bedsheet, and incense sticks. Later, the two recorded a last message for family and friends, bidding them goodbye. Soon after, in a video, Anee was seen hanging from the ceiling fan with a nylon rope. Later, Jeril removed her body, placed it on the bed, covered it with a bedsheet, and poured flowers over it. Soon after, he also hanged himself.
