In-form Vidarbha professional Karun Nair will continue to lead the side in the Vijay Hazare (One-Day) Trophy knock-out matches to be played in Vadodara from January 12 to 18, 2025. Vidarbha will play the second quarter-final on Jan 12. Their opponents are yet to be decided. Nair rewrote the world record for most List A runs without being dismissed while guiding Vidarbha to an eight-wicket win over Uttar Pradesh in their last league match last week. He has so far scored four hundreds and has a whopping average of 542.00. VCA’s senior selection committee, headed by Sudhir Wankhede, which met on Tuesday, named an 18 member squad for the campaign.

Vidarbha U-23 girls down Himachal by 8 wickets
 
VIDARBHA thrashed Himachal by eight wickets to record their third win in the group league stage of the U-23 Women’s T20 Trophy in Cuttack on Wednesday. Electing to field first, Vidarbha shot out Himachal for just 65 runs in 17 overs. Tanvi Pavitrakar (2-11), Aditi Palandurkar (2-6) and Vedanti Salodkar (2-13) shared the spoils. In spite of the early loss of opener Rupali Sahare, Vidarbha chased down the target in 14 overs with Sayali Shinde making an unbeaten 34. Brief scores: Himachal 65 all out in 17 overs (Tanvi Pavitrakar 2-11, Aditi Palandurkar 2-6, Vedanti Salodkar 2-13). Vidarbha 66-2 in 14 overs (Sayali Shinde 34 not out, Prerna Randive 18) Result: Vidarbha won by 8 wickets.

U-19 girls win low-scoring match
 
Vidarbha defeated Maharashtra by 52 runs in their group league match of the U-19 Women’s One-Day Trophy in Surat on Wednesday. This was Vidarbha’s third win in a row and they have 12 points from three matches. Vidarbha were in deep trouble early on as they lost their first four wickets for only 20 runs. Skipper Tanvi Mendhe, who top-scored with 34, and Dharvi (13) added 54 runs for the fifth wicket to revive the innings. With no other notable contribution with the bat from the lower order, Vidarbha finished with a fighting tally of 112. Vidarbha bowlers, led by Trupti Lodhe (4-10) and Yashshri Soley (2-28), wrecked Maharashtra and paved the way for their team’s victory. Brief scores: Vidarbha 112 all out in 47.5 overs (Tanvi Mendhe 34; Gayatri Survase 4-24, Janhavi Virkar 3-33). Maharashtra 60 all out in 26.2 overs (Trupti Lodhe 4-10, Yashshri Soley 3-28). Result: Vidarbha won by 52 runs.
