Expressing his views on the four labour wage codes in a workshop organised by the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Vidarbha Prant, Maharashtra State President of the body Adv. Anil Dhumne said the Government should immidiatly impletment the labour welfare laws. Dhumne was the keynote speaker of the workshop.
Nagpur District Chief Harshal Thombre presided over the function while National Vice President of BMS Nita Chobe, All India Executive Member Shilpa Deshpande, and State General Secretary Gajanan Gatlewar were also present on the stage.
Dhumne further said that many labour laws were originally made during the the British era.
“Many of them have become irrelevant today and thus we need an updated labour code,” he added. In her speech, Nita Chobe said the laws should be in the interest of workers..
The four codes consolidated a complex web of 29 central labour laws. These are the Code on Wages, 2019; the Industrial Relations Code, 2020; the Occupational Safety, Health
and Working Conditions Code, 2020; and the Code on Social Security, 2020.
National General Secretary of Varishta Nagrik Parisangh Vasant Pimpalpur, Gadchiroli in-charge Sunil Bokshe, Suresh S Chaudhary, Prakash Mohitkar, and Advocate Supriya Puntambekar were also present on the occasion.
National Executive Member Shilpa Deshpande gave the introductory remark. Gajanan Gatlewar conducted the proceedings of the function while Harshal Thombre proposed the formal vote of thanks.
