SECR signs MoU with ATDC for vocational training for underprivileged youngsters

SOUTH Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a Bilaspur-based subsidiary of Coal India Limited under jurisdiction of Ministry of Coal, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC), Gurugram, for vocational training programme that is aimed at uplifting underprivileged youth from economically weaker sections. The MoU was signed in presence of Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Rupinder Brar and Deputy Director General, Ministry of Coal, Santosh, at Shastri Bhawan in New Delhi. Additional Secretary congratulated SECL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team for taking proactive steps in implementing the vocational training programme with ATDC.
 
As part of SECL’s CSR initiative, the programme is set to benefit around 400 candidates by equipping them with skills for self-employment. A total of Rs 3.12 crore has been allocated for the initiative. Under this agreement, ATDC will establish training centers for 300 candidates in a non-residential self-employed tailor programme across SECL’s Bishrampur, Sohagpur and Korba areas. Besides, 100 candidates will also undergo a fully residential training programme at the ATDC centre in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, which includes free boarding and lodging. These candidates will be selected from within a 25-kilometer radius of SECL’s establishments. The ceremony was attended by SECL Director (Personnel) Biranchi Das, General Manager (Civil and CSR) Alok Kumar, ATDC Senior Vice Chairman Rakesh Vaid, ATDC Director General and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Vijay Mathur, and senior officials from SECL and ATDC. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Coal, this initiative aims to empower underprivileged youth in coalfield regions, create opportunities.
