District Planning Committee (DPC) has approved an outlay of Rs 2,065.76 crore for Nagpur district at its meeting held at Niyojan Bhavan on Saturday. Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister of the district, who chaired the meeting said, “The money required for Government schemes comes from the public through taxes and all elements of the society expect their development. It is the duty of all departments to complete all schemes and projects through District Planning Committee as per expectations of the citizens.” For the current year, the DPC, after delibearation finalised the respective outlay wherein under Genaral plan, Rs 2,065 cr is allocated, for Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP), Rs 285 crore and under Tribal Sub plan, Rs 168 cr is earmarked. Ashish Jaiswal, Minister of State; Shyamkumar Barve, MP, Ramtek; Krishna Khopde, Vikas Thakre, Pravin Datke, Samir Meghe, Parinay Fuke, Abhijeet Wanjari, Sanjay Meshram, Charansingh Thakur, all Members of State Legislature; Dr Vipin Itankar, District Collector; Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari, Municpal Commissioner, NMC; Sanjay Meena, Chairman, NIT; Anchal Goyal, Additional Municipal Commissioner, NMC; Vinayak Mahamuni, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad; Ramesh Dhumal, Additional Commiss-ioner of Police, Rajesh Gaikwad, District Planning Officer; and heads of all the departments were present for the meeting. 
 
Bawankule orders inquiry in Jaljeevan Mission works
 
Chandrashekhar Bawankule expressed his frustration over the complaints raised by Members of Legislature and MP regarding the works of Jaljeevan Mission in the district. He ordered an inquiry into the matter and action against the culprits. He said, “The officials implementing Jaljeevan Mission did not ensure the implementation of the plans even after funds being available for the schemes. There is need for an inquiry and all those found guilty in the cases need to be prosecuted.”
 
Investigation into city’s CCTV camera operations
 
A network of CCTV cameras has been installed across Nagpur city for security purposes, with around 4,000 cameras under the Smart City project. However, only 2,000 cameras are currently functional, while the rest are non-operational. The Guardian Minister directed officials to remove defunct cameras, install new ones, and assured of providing funds for optical fiber cable infrastructure. To enhance security in the growing metropolitan area, new police outposts will also be established. The creation of a separate Zone-6 police division for Kamptee has become necessary. Chandrashekhar Bawankule directed officials to submit a detailed proposal within seven days, along with a status report on the CCTV network within a week.
 
Parks to be opened for public
 
Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has instructed to open the closed gardens and parks in the city. He said, “There are many closed gardens in the city which if opened can generate significant employement. Such gardens, except for those in disputes, shall be opened and made available to general public for recreational activities.”
