The trials of Chandrapur Flying Club have been completed at Morwa airport here and soon the Club will begin providing training to new pilots. The Directorate General Civil Aviation (DGCA) has given safety clearance to Chandrapur Flying Club and it is all set to be inaugurated at the hands of Aero Club of India President Rajiv Pratap Rudy on February 21.
A total of 40 youths from Maharashtra, including 10 from Chandrapur, would be imparted the training at the Flying Club, informed a senior officer.
Aiming to provide opportunities to youth of Chandrapur and adjoining districts to pursue the course of Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Flying Club was established here on the initiative of Sudhir Mungantiwar, former Cabinet Minister and MLA from Ballarpur.
Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited (MADC) has already sanctioned funds for re-construction of the runway at Morwa, Chandrapur airport.A project of Rs 60 crore of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for satellite base navigation system at Morwa, Chandrapur was drafted.More than Rs 5 crore have been sanctioned by MADC for re-carpeting the runway at Morwa. Officials DGCA had already visited Morwa for inspection. The trials of planes were completed recently. After examining the entire airport, the DGCA has given final approval to start the training session, informed a senior officer of Collectorate.
It may be mentioned here that the trainees from of Chandrapur have to pay a 10 per cent of the fee while provision will be made in the DPDC funds to pay for the remaining.
Total 4 planes have been brought to Chandrapur for training session while 2-3 more are likely to be sanctioned after necessary formalities. The first Flying Station/Club was established at Nagpur in 1947 in Vidarbha. Chandrapur Flying Club would be the second operational base of Nagpur Flying Club.
