A CLASS 3 student at a primary school here allegedly suffered asevere eye injury, leading to aloss of vision in one eye, with accusations directed towards the school principal, an Education Department official said on Wednesday. Authorities have initiated aninquiry into the incidentthat happened on Tuesdayat Bhogpur Mithoni PrimarySchool afterthe victim’s mother, Jyoti Kashyap, lodged acomplaint against the principal,Geeta Karal, to the District Magistrate. In her complaint, she claimed that her daughter,Himanshi,wasblindedduetothesevereinjuriesinflicted by the principal.

 

However,PrincipalGeetaKaral denied the allegations, sayingHimanshi already had a weakeyesight. She said,” The injury occurredwhenaclassmate,Benazeer,wascompleting her work and accidentally struck Himanshi’s facewith her elbow, causing swellingin her eye.” The situation escalated when Himanshi’s mother visited theschool the same day, requesting a medical certificate from the principal. When her request was denied, Jyoti allegedly threatened theprincipal.Theprincipalclarifiedthat she was not authorised toissue any medical reports. In response to the incident, Moradabad Basic Siksha Adhikari (BSA) Ajit Kumar said onThursday that an inquiry hadbeen initiated under the supervision of Additional BSA ShivamGupta. “The inquiry will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident,and appropriate action will be taken after its completion,”he said.
