IAS Sandeep Poundrik, Secretary (Ministry of Steel), Government of India visited SAIL- Bhilai Steel Plant on Thursday. He was also accompanied by Abhijit Narendra, Joint Secretary, (Ministry of Steel- GoI), and Amarendu Prakash, Chairman, (SAIL). Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (SAIL-BSP), Rakesh Kumar, ED (Works), and Senior Officers of the Plant welcomed the dignitaries upon their arrival at SAIL- BSP. He was accorded Guard of Honour by CISF Jawans at the Safety Excellence Centre, following which dignitaries were briefed about necessary safety instructions for visiting the Plant. During the Plant visit, Sandeep Poundrik, along with Abhijit Narendra, and Amarendu Prakash took keen interest in operations at Modex Units, including Blast Furnace 8, Steel Melting Shop-3, and Universal Rail Mill.
He, and dignitaries accompanied by Anirban Dasgupta, Rakesh Kumar and other senior officials of the Plant witnessed the production of hot metal at BF-8, the production of crude steel at SMS-3, and rolling of the world’s longest 130-metre rail at URM.
This was followed by an interaction with Senior Executives of BSP at Ispat Bhawan, where Sandeep Poundrik, along with Abhijit Narendra, and Amarendu Prakash interacted with Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (SAIL-BSP), Manobendra Ghoshal, CMD (MSCT), and respective EDs of BSP including S. Mukhopadhyay, ED (Projects), AK Chakraborty, ED (MM), Pawan Kumar, ED (HR), Praveen Nigam, ED (F&A), BK Giri, ED (Mines), Rakesh Kumar, ED (Works), Dr. Ravindranath M., ED (M&HS), Arun Kumar, Acting ED (Rowghat), and CGM I/cs, CGMs and other Senior Officials. An overview presentation on key factors and production performance, techno-economic parameters, product mix, financial performance, and cost of production was presented by Himanshu Dave, AGM (vigilance), and Shalini Chaurasiya, DM (HR). IAS Sandeep Poundrik, Secretary (Ministry of Steel-GoI) urged the Senior Management to keep aggressive targets and reduce fixed costs. The dignitaries left for Raipur from Ispat Bhawan.
