A team from the Special Protection Group (SPG) is set to arrive in the city on Thursday to oversee security preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit scheduled on March 30.
Sources indicate that the
SPG team will reach the city
early in the morning and hold an initial briefing with city police officials. Following this, the
SPG team, in coordination with the City Police, will conduct
a thorough inspection of the route of PM’s movement to identify potential security vulnerabilities.
Later, a detailed meeting will be held with senior police officials and city administrators to finalize security arrangements.
The SPG will assess the planned route and determine the necessary deployment of security personnel along the roads and at the event venue.
As seen in previous visits, several roads are expected to be closed during PM Modi’s tour.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will tour the Solar Industries facility and lay the foundation stone for the Madhav Netralay Premium Centre near Vasudeo Nagar Metro Station on Hingna Road. He will share the stage with Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghachalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), at the function.
Upon arrival at Sonegaon Air Force Station, the PM will proceed directly to Reshimbagh to visit Dr Hedgewar Smruti Mandir, where he will interact with senior RSS office-bearers. Following this, he will visit Deekshabhoomi to pay homage to Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, whose ashes are enshrined inside the dome. The final event on PM Modi’s itinerary will be a visit to Madhav Netra Pedhi.
Heightened intelligence surveillance in
riot-affected areas
The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has been tasked with gathering intelligence, particularly from riot-affected areas, ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit. A special IB team has been assigned to monitor potential security threats. However, no concrete intelligence inputs have been reported, so far.
SPG officials are also expected to hold discussions with IB personnel before finalising the security arrangements and route for PM Modi in Nagpur, according to reliable sources.
