State Home Minister Vijay Sharma addressed the media regarding a recent Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raid, stating that while he was aware of the raid, he lacked specific details about the case under investigation. Sharma clarified that the Chhattisgarh Government had previously handed over numerous cases to the CBI, and the exact nature of the current raid would be determined later. Regarding allegations of central agency misuse, Sharma pointed out that Leader of Opposition Dr Charan Das Mahant had demanded CBI probes into several cases, indicating a degree of trust in the agency. He also noted that some Congress members were implicated in irregularities, but Congress MLAs, including the Leader of Opposition, had sought CBI investigations and threatened to approach the President and Prime Minister if their demands were not met. He stated that to ensure these cases are brought to a logical conclusion; they have been handed over to the Central Agency. Concerning Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s potential visit, Sharma confirmed that a visit was proposed but not yet finalized. He indicated that the schedule would be confirmed within the next few days and that they had extended an invitation to the Union Home Minister to attend the Bastar Pandum festival.

CBI action is part of normal progression of investigation: Arun Sao

Staff Reporter

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao commented on the recent CBI raids, stating that they are part of an ongoing investigation into numerous scams that occurred during the Congress party’s tenure in Chhattisgarh. Sao stated that the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) are conducting thorough investigations into these alleged scams. The recent raids, which targeted 50 locations including the residences of IPS officers, other officials, and politicians, are a continuation of this gradual and sequenced investigative process. “CBI’s action is part of the normal progression of the investigation,” Sao stated, refuting claims of political motivation. He stated that it is unfair to politicize the raids, as the CBI has not targeted any specific individual. However, he acknowledged that the Congress party often attributes political motives to such actions. Sao asked, “When these scams unfolded, who was the Chief Minister of the State?” He urged former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to cooperate with the CBI, now that the investigation has reached his residence, and assured him that there is no need for fear. “There is no such political situation in the nation that any such action happen based on political reasons.

These are autonomous agencies, they never act on political reason,” Sao asserted. He reiterated that the investigation has been ongoing for months, and the recent raids are a natural progression of the process. ‘Kiran Singh Deo criticise Congress’ planned effigy burning’: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Kiran Singh Deo has criticized the Congress party’s planned effigy burning protest against the CBI raids on the premises of Congress MLAs, IAS/IPS officers, and former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, labeling it an indication of the Congress party’s “anti-constitutional political character.” Deo stated that by protesting against the investigation processes of constitutional institutions, the Congress party is demonstrating political depravity. He questioned why Baghel and other Congress leaders are so upset about the investigation and raids if they have done nothing wrong. Deo said if Baghel and Congress leaders have not done anything wrong, then why are they so upset with the investigation and raids? He stated out that the Congress party had previously engaged in “indecent behavior” and even attacked ED officers during investigations.

Deo said that the Congress party’s actions, including attacks on investigation agencies and now the planned effigy burning, suggest that they are attempting to cover up wrongdoing during their rule. He accused the Congress party of resorting to pressure tactics and undemocratic behavior. He further highlighted that during Bhupesh Baghel’s tenure as Chief Minister, Congress MLAs and ministers themselves raised concerns about the functioning of officers and exposed corrupt activities. However, Baghel allegedly encouraged these officers and later defended them when investigations began and they were jailed. Deo questioned the Congress party’s trust in the Constitution and the law of the country. He suggested that their attempts to create pressure through attacks and protests indicate “something is fishy. Deo advised Baghel and Congress leaders to cease their unconstitutional, undemocratic, and violent behavior and instead allow the central investigation agencies to conduct their work peacefully and cooperate fully.
