It has established its credibility also. Madhav Netralaya started in 1995.

The second project, the foundation laying of whose expansion to be conducted by Modi and Bhagwat, is running an OPD for the last two years at Wasudev Nagar. The Wasudev Nagar OPD is witnessing 80-90 patients daily. Gudhi Padwa is celebrated as first day of Hindu New Year. RSS is celebrating its centenary so this bhoomipujan assumes significance as Madhav Netralaya is one of the ‘Seva Prakalps’. Presently, Madhav Netralaya is running OPDs near Hindustan Colony also where surgeries are performed. As far as expansion is concerned, phase 1 entails the development of two significant building blocks, denoted as A and B, encompassing a combined super built-up area of approximately 2,34,000 square feet. The plan is comprehensive, including future expansion. Apart from providing eye treatment, the institute will be running post graduate courses in ophthalmology. Considering that aspect, facilities for Post Graduate learning programs, research, ancillary support, hostels, and more are included in the plan, with an estimated construction area of around 1,57,000 square feet.

Additionally, the project boasts of a sizable basement that offers ample storage capabilities. The second floor is planned to boast an impressive array of features, including 14 state-of-the-art modular operation theatres equipped with the latest technology. It also provides ample surface parking and dedicated staff parking areas, along with convenient access to the atrium pharmacy, optical shop and cafeteria. Each OPD has been thoughtfully designed as a self-contained unit, aimed at enhancing patient circulation and minimising waiting time, thereby reducing patient anxiety. Additionally, the second floor will include a 200-seat lecture and convention hall, six guest rooms, and a 150-bed indoor service facility. For educational purposes, the floor features a spacious reference library and lecture halls, catering to the training needs of PG doctors, nurses, and optometrists. Furthermore, the hospital offers a day-care operation unit and extends community eyecare services to underserved rural population.

The second floor also houses cutting-edge pathology and research laboratories, as well as a modern eye bank. Patients and visitors can enjoy a spacious waiting lounge with nurse stations and a variety of single-seater rooms including (general, semi-luxury, and suites). The third floor houses 26 three-seater general rooms and a dedicated six-seater ward for infected patients, ensuring comprehensive care and accommodation options. The overall planning and design of the campus and building is based on environmental consideration, climate responsive design, energy efficiency, use of renewable energy and a strong base of traditional design architecture. The hospital is envisioned as a single nodal centre for specialised eyecare in Central India. It will have a designated low vision centre and rehabilitation centre for the visually impaired and will also provide occuloplasty services.
