The doctors in ENT Department of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital (NSCBMCH) have given a new lease of life to two innocent kids including a 6-month old baby, by performing complex surgeries on them. The 6-month baby had a big worm stuck in the throat while a 1.5 year old toddler swallowed a piece of chicken which was stuck in his chest causing trouble in breathing.
 
The two kids belonged to Katni and Damoh districts. The doctors successfully performed complex surgeries on both the little patients who have been kept under observation in Paediatric ward. In the first case, a 6-month old girl child from Damoh, had severe pain in chest. When she started crying, her parents took her to the District Hospital Damoh on Monday. The doctors immediately referred the baby to NSCBMCH, Jabalpur. The child was facing trouble breathing HoD, ENT, Dr Kavita Sachdeva after proper diagnosis, found that the baby was unable to breathe properly as the oxygen was not entering into her lungs, which was swelling like a balloon. Following which, the doctors performed a complicated surgery and took out a yellow-coloured worm stuck in her chest.
 
According to Dr Sachdeva, the worm was stuck in the right side of the baby’s lung. Due to which, the baby was unable to breathe properly. A similar case was referred from Katni where a piece of chicken was stuck in the windpipe of a 1.5 year old toddler. After primary diagnosis, the toddler was referred to NSCBMCH. During examination, the doctors found a piece of chicken stuck in the boy’s throat. The child underwent a successful surgery and the piece of chicken was removed from his throat. The family members told that the child ate chicken with the family and went to play. While playing, he started having chest pain. The family members immediately took him to doctors in Katni for first aid, from where he was referred to Jabalpur Medical College.
