MULTIPLE bomb threat calls and messages were received on the official phone numbers, email IDs of various departments in many States of country on Wednesday and police were carrying out searches in the related premises.
CHHATTISGARH: KABIRDHAM COLLECTORATE GETS BOMB THREAT: The Kabirdham District Collectorate in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday received a bomb threat via an email, prompting police to conduct a thorough search of the premises, officials said. The threat message was received on the official email ID of the Kabirdham Collector following which police were alerted, Additional Superintendent of Police Pushpendra Singh Baghel told PTI.
The email, sent by an unidentified person, stated “an improvised explosive device was planted in the Collectorate office and we will blow it up by 2.30 pm,” he said. The police’s cyber wing has launched an investigation to trace the source of the email, the official said.
DELHI: DWARKA COURT RECEIVES BOMB THREAT: THE Dwarka court was evacuated on Wednesday after a bomb threat, a police officer said. According to police, the court’s Chief Judicial Magistrate had received an email at 3.11 am on Tuesday about there being a bomb planted in the court’s premises. The court made a call to police at 10.50 am on Wednesday, the officer said.
“Dog and bomb detection squads have been rushed to the spot, and we are conducting a thorough check. As of now, nothing suspicious has been found,” the officer said.
Police in a statement said the mailer said there was an RDX-based explosive device planted in the court.
MUMBAI: POLICE RECEIVE BOMB THREAT CALL; MAN DETAINED: THE Mumbai Police have received a call wherein a person claimed there would be bomb blasts in the city, officials said on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Suraj Jadhav (37), who allegedly made the threat call under the influence of alcohol, has been detained, a senior police official said.
The city police’s main control room received the call on Tuesday afternoon wherein the person claimed there will be bomb blasts in the metropolis, he said.
The police launched an investigation and traced the caller to Borivali area here.
Jadhav, resident of Borivali, made the threat call in an inebriated state, the official said.
HIMACHAL: MANDI DC OFFICE EVACUATED AFTER BOMB THREAT: THE Deputy Commissioner’s office here and the adjoining court were evacuated on Wednesday morning after an email was received claiming that a bomb had been planted in the complex, officials said.
Police teams sealed the entry to the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office and the district court after vacating the premises, they said.
“A threat was received on the email of the Deputy Commissioner, Mandi, and as a precautionary measure, the (office) complex has been evacuated.
All steps, including an anti-sabotage check, are being taken as per the standard operating procedure,” Mandi police said in a statement.
KERALA: PALAKKAD RDO OFFICE RECEIVES BOMB THREAT: OFFICE of the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) received a bomb threat by email on Wednesday prompting the deployment of bomb and dog squads to search the premises for any explosives.
A senior police officer told a TV channel that the bomb disposal and dog squads were searching the RDO office after evacuating staffs and public from there.
He also said that similar emails were received in other districts of the State and therefore, police was trying to ascertain whether the threat was a hoax.
“A time has been mentioned in the email and we will continue our search till then,” he said.
The content of email as shown on the TV channel claims that an RDX explosive has been placed at the RDO office and it will detonate at 1.30 pm.
The purported email also claims that the detonation is timed to coincide with the alleged “elimination” of AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswamy.
Last month, bomb threats by email were received at the Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta and Wayanad District Collector offices and all of them turned out to be a hoax.
